🌿 Shedding Season: The Not-So-Easy Path to Becoming Who You're Meant to Be

Why is shedding so dang hard?

This blog will discuss the not-so-easy paths required to become the next version of yourself.

Can you believe we’re almost done with May? I swear it was just the New Year yesterday. But May has been a lot—and I want to talk to you about something that’s been showing up big-time in my life (and maybe yours too): shedding.

This month has been a whole transformation portal for me—emotionally, energetically, spiritually. It’s felt like my soul hit the “defrost” button and all this stuff that was frozen just started melting off me.

And it’s no surprise because… I’m wrapping up my Emerald Year—and if you don’t know what that is, you’re about to find out.

💎 What’s an Emerald Year?

An Emerald Year is what we call that 12-month period when Jupiter, the big boss of expansion, growth, and blessings, travels through your Sun sign.

It only happens every 12 years.
It’s like the Universe hands you this big cosmic “yes”—with a little fine print that says but you’ll have to grow into it.

So every sign gets an Emerald Year every 12 years and you want to make the most of it. I had a lot of things I wanted to do in this Emerald Year but this year was a process of refinement - especially coupling that with the 9 year theme of 2025 which represents completion of cycles and transformation.

For me, this Emerald Year has been about expansion AND contraction.

I’ve expanded my Being’s capacity but I’ve also felt so much more feelings, emotions and frustrations that it’s been a balancing act.

I’ve been blessed, but I’ve also been stretched. That’s what growth does—it makes you outgrow who you were.

And sometimes, in order to grow into the next level of your life or purpose, you’ve got to let go of the old skin.

🪄Why We All Have to Shed

We all go through shedding seasons. It’s a part of life and often, not something we can control.

They show up as:

  • An illness
  • A job change
  • The end of a relationship
  • A transition after a loss
  • A rebrand
  • A healing journey
  • A physical move
  • Or even just a deep internal knowing that it’s time

Shedding is uncomfortable. It’s awkward. It’s emotional. It’s spiritually itchy.

But it’s necessary.

So how do we know we’re being called to shed?

Let me walk you through 3 Not-So-Easy Steps 🔥  that tend to trigger shedding and transformation:

👉 Step 1: You get sick.

Just an FYI - this is NOT my favorite way to shed.

This is the body's red flag.
You’ve been running on empty, ignoring the whispers, pushing through when your system was screaming “please stop.”
Illness can be a sacred pause—a forced one. Your body will shut you down if you don’t listen.

Whether it’s burnout, chronic fatigue, autoimmune flare-ups, or mystery symptoms, illness often shows up when you’re way out of alignment with your truth.

You’re not just sick—you’re being asked to slow down and reassess everything.

When this is happening to you, simply ask yourself: What is my body trying to free me from? What version of me is no longer sustainable to carry forward?

👉 Step 2: You lose someone or something important.

Ugh….I don’t like this one, either.

Loss is the ultimate shedding.
Sometimes it’s the death of a loved one.
Sometimes it’s a friendship or relationship ending.
Sometimes it’s the quiet, unspoken goodbye to a dream you’ve outgrown.

Loss rearranges your insides. It empties you so something new can be born. And in that hollow space, you finally meet the raw version of yourself that doesn’t need to pretend anymore.

You might not have asked for it, but this is where grief becomes the gateway to truth.

And that truth is that there is not loss, just a shedding and a letting go because it’s a perpetuation of life and choices.

When this is happening to you, ask yourself: Who am I without this person, this role, this chapter?

👉 Step 3: Something no longer fits.

Remember, we talked about spiritually itchy. Yeah…this is one of those.

This one can be sneaky because there’s no dramatic event.
Just a feeling: this isn’t working anymore.

You look around at your job, your routines, your habits, your identity—and it feels… tight. Like spiritual pants two sizes too small.

There may not be a crisis, but you feel the rub. The discomfort. The soul irritation.

And deep down, you know: you’ve outgrown it.

This might show up as:

  • A business you once loved now feeling like a burden
  • Friendships that feel surface-level or performative
  • A daily routine that used to inspire you but now drains you
  • A version of success that no longer excites you

This step is about radical honesty to yourself. It’s your soul saying, “We can’t keep doing it this way.”

So when this is happening to you, Ask yourself: What am I pretending still fits—just because it’s familiar?
What am I afraid to let go of because I don’t know what comes next?

I know these steps hit a little hard, and everyone is going to experience some form of these in their lives.

You’re shedding in the Year of the Snake because what used to thrill you just feels heavy. The stuff you used to chase starts to lose its sparkle.

You crave less.
Less noise.
Less hustle.
Less proving.

Shedding is a process of simplifying, and its actually one of the bravest things you can do in a world that’s constantly telling you to do more.

Now, let’s zoom out from our personal lives and talk about why this shedding is happening on a collective level.

We’re not just experiencing transformation individually. We’re seeing it everywhere—from systems, to health, to astrology.

🏛 1. Our political system is crumbling—and we know it.

  • According to Pew Research, only 16% of Americans say they trust the federal government to do what's right "just about always" or "most of the time."
  • People are fed up. They're protesting. They’re voting in local elections. They're organizing grassroots movements and demanding transparency and accountability.
  • The rise of independent media, decentralized platforms, and whistleblower culture is a form of collective shedding—the people are saying: we don’t want this version of leadership anymore.

We’re shedding blind trust.
We’re shedding apathy.
We’re shedding the illusion that someone else is going to fix it for us.

😷 2. We’re always recovering from illness—why?

  • Chronic illness is on the rise. The CDC reports that 6 in 10 U.S. adults have at least one chronic condition—and 4 in 10 have two or more.
  • Autoimmune issues, nervous system dysregulation, fatigue syndromes—these aren’t isolated cases. They’re collective feedback loops.
  • Our systems are overrun. Our nervous systems are fried. Our bodies are literally trying to detox our modern way of life—physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually and environmentally.

So many people I know are in a healing cycle not because they got sick, but because their bodies forced them to stop and shed the way they were living.

♈ 3. Saturn has moved into Aries—and it’s a big deal.

  • Saturn is the planet of responsibility, discipline, and karmic lessons.
  • Aries is the sign of bold action, initiation, and the self.
  • When Saturn enters Aries (a transit that only happens every 29.5 years), it says: “No more hiding. No more waiting for permission. It’s time to take responsibility for your fire.

This transit is about:

  • Becoming your own authority.
  • Building structures around your personal power.
  • Doing the hard but honest work of becoming a true leader—first of yourself, then of others.

And yes, it can feel gritty. It requires cutting through illusion and claiming the truth, even when it’s not convenient.

This is a collective call to action. And if you’re feeling it, that’s not a coincidence.

If you're walking through a season of shedding right now—whether it's through illness, grief, uncertainty, or just a deep knowing that something needs to shift—please hear this:

✨ You’re not broken.
✨ You’re not behind.
✨ You’re being invited into the next version of yourself.

But I also know how scary that space in-between can feel—when you don’t know what's next, when your old identity doesn’t fit anymore, and the new one hasn’t fully arrived.

That’s where the Akashic Records can support you deeply.

📖 When we open your Records together, you’ll receive clarity on:

  • What’s really happening in your life and why
  • What you're being asked to release and what’s ready to emerge

Shedding doesn’t have to be confusing, lonely, or chaotic.

You can actually accelerate your transformation by receiving guidance from your soul’s blueprint—so you stop spinning and start stepping into who you were always meant to be.

🌱 Final Thoughts + Encouragement

So here’s the truth, friend:

You might not want to shed, but sometimes life says, “You’re going to shed anyway. And what’s on the other side is better—if you allow it.

Whether you’re saying goodbye to who you were, letting go of an old dream, or grieving a version of life you thought would last—
You are being reborn.

And you’re not alone.

So I want to invite you: don’t resist the shedding. Let it do its sacred work.
